Ufone Launches 3G Trials Service in Islamabad / Rawalpindi

Ufone, after successfully launching its 3G free trial in Lahore, today announced the availability of its 3G services in Rawalpindi/Islamabad.

Ufone’s FREE 3G trials are available for both postpaid and prepaid customers, offering unlimited data downloads, valid only till the commercial launch of Ufone’s 3G services.

Ufone Offers to Exchange Your 2G Phone with 3G Phone

Ufone has announced a new promotion for its customers on facebook with which they will be able to exchange their existing 2G phones with 3G ready smartphones.

Currently this service is available at following three service centres of Ufone:

Ufone Customer Service Centre, Clifton, Karachi
Ufone Customer Service Centre, Gulberg, Lahore
Ufone Customer Service Centre, F-7 Markaz, Islamabad

Mobilink Launches Free 3G Service Trial in Karachi

Free trial of Mobilink’s 3G service is available in Karachi*. To avail this, the customer will simply have to enable 3G on his supported handset and then restart the phone.
To enable 3G, select any of the following in the “Network Settings” or “Mobile Networks” on 3G supported handsets :

GSM/WDCMA (auto) mode
2G + 3G mode
GSM / UMTS mode
Dual Mode
Once this is done and the customer enters a 3G coverage area, the symbol next to the network signals will change to any of the following:

Version 1:

All 3G packages from Ufone are bundled with three different speeds, and named as U High that offers 256Kbps, U Supersonic that comes with 512 Kbps and U Hyper Sonic which has 1Mbps speeds.

Finally Pakistan Government Sold Off Four 3G Services Licences

Today 23rd April 2014 Pakistan government sold off four 3G services licences but one 4G licence remain.

Four local telecom companies Zong, Mobilink, Ufone and Telenor qualified for the economy.
Zong was the highest bidder in the 3G auciton, claiming a 10 MHz 3G band licence, qualifying for the 4G licence.Mobilink bagged the other 10 MHz 3G licence on the auction block. It did not bid for the 4G licence.Ufone, which had initially bid for the 15 MHz of 3G band, got 5 Mhz band of 3G. However, due to the way it initially bid, it was disqualified for the 4G licence bid.Telenor Pakistan won a 5 MHz 3G licence.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said that the remaining licence 4G license reserved for new entrants will be sold in the coming months.
